When Kundai Snuck Into the ASC Turn 8 Party
A touch of green the invite said, it wasn’t easy to pull off but for the hottest PR ticket of the week, it had to be done. PR maven Farah Fortune, Director of African Star Communications hosted an array of guests at the Bryanston Country Club for A Night Of African Stars, a birthday celebration for her company. The company turned 8 years old and it was only fitting that the event be a true celebration of Farah, her team and the people who made the business possible. From music, acting, to media, it is safe to say that there was an abundance of star power in the room. The emcees Tshepo and Danine, long time friends of Farah’s, kicked off the evening by introducing Lil Trix who performed three of his singles; Life, Wonderful and Baddie. That was followed by a heartfelt Happy Birthday To You, led by LeAnne Dlamini followed by Mariechan closing off the opening performances.
The guests were treated to a delicious meal and afterwards the African Star Team presented Farah with a gift after delivering a beautiful piece of poetry in honour of the “Best Boss”. Farah then took the stage delivering a teary, emotional speech that ended in a glorious standing ovation by the entire room. This “Pitbull in heels” was so sweet and gracious and led us through the story of how R1000 on her bedroom floor 8 years ago turned into a successful public relations business. She is definitely a strong woman with a very rich character and a deep appreciation for her journey and the role that her team plays in her life every single day. Farah said with emphasis that it is because of her team and her clients that she gets to live her dream every single day. She gave a special thank you to her daughter, professing that she does this all for her. The room was still and then resounding applause. The cake came out, drinks were flowing, it was officially turn up time…the rest is history.
Early drop to make up for the missed week! The Twimbos are back with a fresh new episode, featuring frontline accounts from Nitefreak at Hinde, in-depth reports from Kigali, expert analysis of Sakhile Dube and Chidimma Adetshina's performances at Miss Universe, and shrewd diplomacy in their takes on the South African Mining standoff and El Salvador's gang prison. Enjoy!
