Comedy Central Is Looking For Africa’s Next Comedian
Comedy Central has just put out a call to all amateur comedians to send in a video of their stand-up routines or sketch comedy for the “Grab the Mic” competition.
Grab The Mic will starting tonight on Comedy Central (DStv channel 122) in the hopes of finding the next great comedian from Sub-Saharan Arica.
To participate in the contest, and for your chance to make life funnier, upload a short video clip (30 second to 3 minutes) of yourself performing stand-up or sketch comedy in any commonly spoken African language of your choice to www.comedycentralafrica.com.
Alternatively, up and coming comics can also apply to audition in front of a live audience at Parker’s Comedy & Jive every Wednesday night from 15 June at 20:00 CAT by sending an email to legendary comedian and entrepreneur Joe Parker atinfo@parkerscomedy.com.
Heat winners from the live auditions will go up against the online finalist, the Cape Town finalist Francois van As and Napsta Masinga - the “Grab the Mic” heat winner from the Comedy Central International Comedy Festival (CCICF) on 24 November.

Our bad about the delay, we were in Marvin’s Room, but the 2 Broke Twimbos are back, and they brought the infamous Tinto with them on this episode of the pod, the host of the breakup podcast The Feeling Station. That’s right, it’s a crossover episode baby! Dan & Phil recover from telling their own breakup stories on Tinto’s podcast by discussing some relationship-based trending stories, like Tyla attending that kid’s Matric Dance, or baby mama drama on the TL before they get caught up in relationship conversations, and share some of the anonymous breakup stories shared by listeners. It’s a fire one, enjoy!
