Louie Vega Announces New Album Under House Afrika
House legend Louie Vega has just secured a deal with Sony’s House Afrika imprint to release his latest album Louie Vega Starring…XXVIII. The album is a dual-disc conceptual record featuring 28 artists on 28 different songs. South African acts Kaylow, Bucie and Uhuru feature on the project with artists like Funkadelic, The Winans Brothers, Jocelyn Brown, Monique Bingham, Josh Milan, Anane Vega, Lisa Fischer, Vikter Duplaix, Caron Wheeler, N'Dea Davenport, Adeva, Kenny Bobien, Byron Stingily and many more.
Vega describes it as “…a beautiful record. You’re talking about the highest level of production in house music and great songs, tailored for and by each artist. It’s also the first Louie Vega record ever - everything else has been done under other names - and it epitomizes everything about me.” Vega also added “the love people have for music - I really feel I have been part of the culture for dance music here. My music has been embraced by a lot of the South African youth over the years. It’s really been a wonderful ride.”
DJ Stat3gy, co-owner of House Afrika, sums it up: “This is a moment of meaningful closure; the moment where one of the acknowledged international elders of house music makes the transition from being an inspiration to African house to joining its leading label in an exciting endorsement of the pedigree the label has earned. Louie Vega’s signing highlights the emergence of a new red hot centre of creativity for the genre: the biggest house music market on the planet.”
